The floors Tumalo runs
Tumalo’s hard floors split into a few types: event and venue flooring that takes concentrated abuse on event days, small-business and office VCT and tile along Highway 20, and the floors in rural and agricultural-service buildings. Venue floors especially need attention, a single reception can scuff and wear a finish that then has to look right for the next booking, so the refinishing schedule tends to follow the event calendar.
What we do
A full strip and wax takes VCT back to bare and lays fresh coats down, the reset for a floor that’s lost its finish. A scrub and recoat pulls the top layers and adds a coat or two, quicker and cheaper when the finish is worn but not gone. Burnishing polishes and hardens the surface so the shine holds through a busy stretch of events. Tile and grout gets a pressurized clean, with sealing on request, which matters in restroom and food-prep floors where grout picks up soil fast.
Reading the floor
Compare the walking lanes to the room edges. Duller lanes with finish still showing means a recoat, and for a venue that’s worth doing before the season. Lanes worn to bare tile means a full strip. An even but tired shine usually just wants burnishing. Getting this right saves money either way: a recoat over gone finish has nothing to bond to, and a strip where a recoat would do is money spent early.
Scheduling around events
Refinishing needs chemicals, standing water, and uninterrupted dry time, so it goes in the gaps between bookings or before a season opens.
